The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility announces dates for planned maintenance outage

The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility will have a planned maintenance outage for two weeks from 30th August to 13th September 2021. Across this time, the mechanical process will be shut down and regular operations will cease. The yearly outage allows the inspection, maintenance and cleaning of equipment at the Facility, to ensure that ongoing operations continue to run efficiently and in accordance with environmental requirements.

Cranes arrived at the site on 23rd August to place several temporary office cabins at the north side of the Facility. The delivery of commercial waste has been temporarily suspended to allow the Facility time to run down the level of stored waste in the bunker to near minimum. This activity allows the delivery of Gloucestershire’s household residual waste to continue as normal during the outage. Commercial waste deliveries are expected to commence from 20th September.

The Facility is aiming for all external traces of the outage, including cabins and equipment, to be removed within two weeks of 13th September. This includes the internal areas being returned to their original condition and full access restored. To ensure the local community is aware of the activity, the Facility has spoken with representatives from the Community Liaison Group (CLG).

Dan Pearson, General Manager of the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, commented:

“Throughout the pandemic, the Facility has continued to operate as usual, thanks to the hard work and commitment from our team, supply chain and customers. This planned outage gives us the chance to ensure our operations are running to their optimum performance for the next 12 months delivering the levels of service our customers have come to expect.”

Throughout the pandemic, the Facility has continued to generate electricity to power the equivalent of up to 25,000 homes across Gloucestershire. Discover more about the Facility now: https://www.ubbgloucestershire.co.uk/
