Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility two week planned maintenance outage

  • The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility planned maintenance outage to take place from 25th September.

  • The two-week outage is scheduled until 9th October.

  • Deliveries for third party (commercial/ business) waste have been temporarily suspended from 21st September, but deliveries of the County's household residual waste will continue as normal.

The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility will have a planned maintenance outage for two weeks from 25th September to 9th October. During this period, the facility will be shut down and regular operations will cease. The outage allows the facility to ensure equipment is cleaned and processes are running efficiently, helping the facility to run in a way that’s cost effective and environmentally sound.

Deliveries for third party waste were temporarily suspended from 21st September to allow the facility time to run the level of stored waste in the bunker down to near minimum. This will allow deliveries of the County's household residual waste to continue as normal during the outage.

Third party waste deliveries will commence on 12th October. There will be additional odour suppression systems on site and an internal carbon filter which will be in operation. Local community liaison group (CLG) reps have been informed to ensure the local community is aware.

Dan Pearson, general manager of the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, commented:

“The outage period allows the facility time to inspect, repair and clean equipment to provide the highest availability for the year ahead. We’ve carefully undertaken the right processes to ensure all waste is stored correctly during the outage, so operations can continue as planned once the outage is complete.”

The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility generates enough electricity for 25,000 homes, reduces carbon and will save the taxpayer £100 million over 25 years. If you have any questions about the planned outage, call 01452 379 886 or message us info@ubbgloucestershire.co.uk.
