Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility announces Bottle Rocket Workshop

On Friday 5th April 2024, the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility will host its first-ever bottle rocket making workshop, aimed at local children aged 7-15 along with their parents and guardians. Participants to the workshop are invited to learn about recycling and reusing waste by repurposing second hand materials, including cardboard and plastic bottles, as part of a fun and exciting science experiment.

Attendees will be creating and decorating bottle rockets at the Facility’s Visitor Centre, before launching them from the Visitor Centre Garden to see whose creation is able to take its place amongst the stars. All necessary supplies will be provided by the Facility, and participants will be able to take their rockets home once they have safely returned to Earth!

The session is free to attend and will run for approximately 2 hours. Liquid refreshments will be available free of charge and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Dan Pearson, General Manager at Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, said:

“We are always happy to spread the message about repurposing waste materials in fun and inventive ways, and this workshop is yet another way for us to positively connect with the local community. It is also an opportunity to inspire children by offering the experience of scientific discovery whilst helping to educate people about sustainable waste management.”

The bottle rocket workshop is the latest in a series of sustainability events hosted by the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility team, and local residents are encouraged to keep an eye out on the Facility’s Facebook Group and website, or join the mailing list for the quarterly newsletter, to stay informed.
